Reporting Graffiti
Graffiti is a criminal offence and should be reported to police who may use information about a graffiti attack in a future prosecution of graffiti offenders.
Reporting graffiti to the relevant authority may also facilitate its rapid removal. It is generally agreed that the rapid removal of graffiti is a strong deterrent to further graffiti in any given location. Graffiti offenders want their graffiti to be seen, so the impact is lessened if the graffiti is removed as soon as possible after application.
Some local councils have dedicated graffiti hotlines and/or online graffiti reporting forms.
