Attorney-General's Annual Report On The Infringements System 2007-08
The Attorney-General’s annual report on the infringements system 2007–08 provides an overview of the infringements system during the 2007–08 financial year.
The report covers data, process and policy developments from the new infringements system’s second year of operation. It also compares and contrasts data from the previous financial year.
The new Act introduced a statutory right to internal review at agency stage. It also provided for a range of sanctions, to motivate people to take action to pay their outstanding fines - these enforcement measures have been progressively rolled out over the last two years.
The Infringements Act 2006 seeks to balance the dual objectives of making the system fairer and firmer. A diverse range of infringements system stakeholders (enforcement agencies, community sector groups, courts, as well as the Department of Justice) are working to further these key objectives.
