National Competition Policy Reports

Under National Competition Policy, all legislation that contains legislative restrictions on competition must be revised.

Victoria has completed National Competition Policy reviews of all of its gaming legislation, as listed below.

Gaming machine legislation

  • Review of Victorian gaming machine legislation
  • Government's response to the Review

Racing and betting legislation

  • Review of Victorian racing and betting legislation
  • Government's response to the Review

Club Keno legislation

  • Review of Club Keno Act 1993
  • Government's response to the Review

Lotteries legislation

In 1998, Victoria reviewed its lotteries legislation, resulting in the introduction of the Public Lotteries Act 2000.

The Public Lotteries Act 2000 and seven other Victorian gambling acts are now consolidated into the Gambling Regulation Act 2003. Chapter 5 of the new Act supersedes the old Public Lotteries Act 2000.This legislation commenced on 1 July 2004.
