Best Practice in Problem Gambling Services 2003

Released in June 2003, this study analysed overseas and Australian research on successful problem gambling interventions.

The study also undertook a review of Gambler's Help in Victoria and describes its strength as its ability to provide a range of services for problem gamblers and their families and through its community education program.

The purpose of the research was to also:

  • consider a range of dimensions of service provision
  • gain insight into service provision for third parties affected by problem gambling
  • identify innovative, effective and culturally sensitive models of service delivery.

The report also includes information in the following areas:

  • problem gambling intervention models
  • conceptualising and measuring therapeutic effectiveness
  • treatment outcome studies.
