Gambling Regulation (Prescribed Connection, Prescribed Profit and Advertising) Regulations 2009

On 31 July 2009, the Victorian Government released the Regulations Explanatory Statement for the proposed Gambling Regulation (Prescribed Connection, Prescribed Profit and Advertising) Regulations 2009.

The Regulations Explanatory Statement outlines provisions of the proposed Regulations. The proposed Regulations will be introduced to support amendments to the Gambling Regulation Act 2003 that will be introduced by the Gambling Regulation (Licensing) Act 2009.

The proposed Regulations will exempt selected expressions and symbols from the prohibition on gaming machine advertising. The exemptions would allow those expressions or symbols to be used by the relevant licensed venue operator or the casino licensee in advertising.

The Government proposes to exempt certain expressions that relate to the venue name of specific venues. These exemptions will expire on 15 August 2012.

The Government invited comment from stakeholders and the community in relation to the proposed Regulations. Comments were invited in relation to the advertising component of the proposed Regulations only.

Submissions in relation to the proposed Regulations have now closed.
