Pre-commitment for Gaming Machines

Pre-commitment, in the context of gaming machines, allows people to stay in control of their gaming and make informed decisions about their play.

The pre-commitment mechanism introduced by the Victorian Government, under the Gambling Regulation Amendment (Licensing) Act 2009, will enable a person to choose to set time and net loss limits prior to commencing play on a gaming machine.

The government is committed to implementing an effective pre-commitment system that does not impose a prohibitive cost on venues and will consult with stakeholders, particularly via the Responsible Gambling Ministerial Advisory Council (RGMAC), to ensure that this objective is achieved.

Consultation with stakeholders will commence once national developments regarding pre-commitments are known.
