Victorian Prison Opioid Substitution Therapy Program: Clinical and Operational Policy and Procedures

The expansion of the Victorian Prison Opioid Substitution Therapy Program (OSTP) is a Victorian Government initiative and an integral treatment component of the Victorian Prison Drug Strategy.

The OSTP policy and procedures provide a framework for managing opioid substitution treatments in Victorian prisons, in particular methadone and buprenorphine. They also provide guidelines for the clinical and operational management of prisoners prescribed these treatments and will set the benchmark for the introduction of further pharmacotherapies to treat opioid dependence in Victorian prisons.
