Magistrates' Court Sentencing Statistics 1996-97 - 2001-02

This report presents statistics on sentencing in the Magistrates' Court of Victoria in the six years from 1996-97 to 2001-02. It includes information on the number and nature of criminal offences passing through the Magistrates' Court and the sentences imposed.

Part A, Parts B1 - B5 and Part C discuss issues within sentencing in the Victorian Magistrates' Court including a range of offences and their subsequent outcomes statistically.

Appendices A through F cover the following areas:
