Regional Electronic Gaming Machine Caps Review (The Justice System)
Between 1992 and 1999, the number of electronic gaming machines (EGMs) in Victoria grew to 30,000, with machines concentrated in areas of high socioeconomic disadvantage. The total number of gaming machines in Victoria is now capped at 30,000, and regional caps have been introduced.
A panel was convened to review the gaming machine caps policy and advise the Government on how best to implement the next round of regional electronic gaming machine caps.
The panel released a Consultation Paper to:
- provide background information on the government's regional electronic gaming machine caps policy
- identify particular issues that the panel sought information on
- invite submissions from interested parties.
The panel also consulted broadly with:
- local governments
- industry
- community stakeholders.
