Mediation Services

Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria (DSCV) mediation services can help disputing parties to talk through their issues and develop options for reaching an agreement. The DSCV mediators are highly skilled and trained. They come from a wide range of backgrounds, qualifications, experience and expertise, and are available in the city as well as in rural areas.

Koori Mediators

Trained, qualified and gazetted Koori mediators from around Victoria have been appointed to the DSCV to ensure the needs of Koori people are met during mediation.

Mediation

Mediation is a structured process involving preparation and a face to face meeting between the mediators and all of the people involved in the dispute

A mediation session is normally conducted by two trained mediators who assist the parties to:

  • identify the disputed issues.
  • develop options
  • consider alternatives
  • endeavour to reach an agreement.

The mediators control how the session is run and the parties control what is discussed and agreed to. For information about mediation and how it works read our frequently asked questions about mediation.
