Aboriginal Justice

The Victorian Government is committed to building a close working relationship with the Koori community through the establishment of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA).

Our partnerships between the Victorian Government and Koori community prove critical to identify areas affecting Koori over-representation at all stages of the criminal justice system and enable us to deliver better justice outcomes for the Koori community in Victoria.

The Victorian Aboriginal Justice Forum (AJF), the peak body for the AJA, provides a positive platform for members to work together and progress major policies and initiatives that make a difference at a local level.

The Department of Justice provides support to advance the agenda on Indigenous-related issues affecting justice, starting with the Victorian Indigenous Affairs Framework (VIAF), through to the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Indigenous Reform Agenda.
