The Department of Sustainability and Environment leads the Victorian Government's efforts to sustainably manage water resources and catchments, parks and other public land, and forests.
The department responds to native title and public land issues through its Indigenous Land Policy and Native Title section in the Public Land Division.
The Public Land Division is responsible for coordinating both regional and department-wide responses to native title claims and their impacts on public lands and public land use along with meeting the requirements of the Commonwealth Native Title Act 1993.
