Effects of Low-level Speeding

Even low-level speeding can increase the risk of a crash and its severity.

Driving just five km/h over the limit in a 60km/h zone doubles your risk of being involved in a casualty crash.

A report prepared by the University of Adelaide for the Australian Transport Safety Bureau in 2002, found:

In an urban 60km/h speed limit environment, the relative risk of being involved in a casualty crash was found to approximately double for each five km/h increase in free travelling speed.
