Young People

Drinking can be more dangerous for younger people than for other members of the community. In general, younger drinkers:

  • are less experienced with alcohol and may not fully understand its effects
  • have a reduced capacity to manage their drinking
  • may be more susceptible to peer group pressure
  • are more likely to engage in other high-risk behaviour.

The combination of these factors can put them at increased risk of alcohol-related injury and accidental death.
