Remuneration and terms and conditions of non-judicial VCAT members

The remuneration and terms and conditions of non-judicial VCAT members are set out in the Governor in Council order, dated 21 October 2014. The date at which the current salary, or remuneration rate, of non-judicial VCAT members is effective, is the date of the most recent adjustment. The most recent adjustment to the salaries and remuneration rates is the date of the most recent salary certificate for judicial officers, which is 17 November 2023 (JE Act Salary Certificate – 17 November 2023).

Declaration of the Minister made under the State Superannuation Act 1988

Under the State Superannuation Act, the Minister may by instrument declare that certain persons, or members of certain classes of person, are 'officers' for the purposes of the State Superannuation Act. This register currently publishes 2 declarations, which apply to:

  • persons who were members of the Revised Scheme or new Scheme immediately before their appointment as members of VCAT (the Revised Scheme and New Scheme closed to new members in 1988 and 1994 respectively) (declaration made by the Minister for Finance, dated 10 February 1994)
  • persons who were officers under the State Superannuation Act immediately before the office of a judicial registrar of any Victorian court, and that are judicial officers of any Victorian court (declaration made by the Assistant Treasurer, undated).
