Access the Freedom of information online portal (External link)

Accessing the portal

When you first visit the website, you will see a log-in screen asking for a username and password.

There will also be 'forgot my password' and 'self-register' links.

There is a different process to enter the portal for new users and for returning users.

New users

If you haven’t used the portal and registered an account before, click the ‘Self-register’ link in the bottom right corner.

The next screen asks for your first name, last name, and email address. Enter these and click ‘Sign Up’.

You will then see a 'verify your identity' screen.

Check the inbox for the email you used to sign up. You should have received an email from (External link).

In that email is a six-digit verification code. Enter it in the box shown and click ‘Verify’

You will then be taken to a page where you can update details such as your name and address.

Once this is complete, follow the instructions to make your Freedom of Information request.

Returning users

If you have registered and accessed the platform before, you can login using your previous details.

Your ‘username’ is the email you used to register initially and the password is the one you created at the time of registration.

If you are unsure or can’t remember if you created an account, click the link for ‘Forgot your password?’ in the bottom left.

On that screen, enter the email you think you might have used and click ‘Continue’.

Wait a few minutes, check the inbox for that address for an email from (External link). This will contain instructions on how to reset your password and access the platform.

If no email was received after 10 minutes, this means there is no account linked to that email address and you can follow the new user instructions above.

You can also follow the above process if you remember registering an account but can’t remember your password.

You might have followed the steps for new users above and got this error when entering your verification code:

This most likely means there is already an account registered for that email address. Wait for 15 minutes then follow the 'returning users' instructions above for resetting your password for that account.

Other problems may need solving by our IT department who runs the portal. If you get errors different to the above, please take screenshots and describe the process you used to try and login or register and send them in an email to (External link). We can provide further assistance on receiving your email.
