Community Crime Prevention

The Community Crime Prevention Program (External link) supports local crime prevention initiatives. Local crime prevention initiatives can help increase community safety and improve community confidence in the safety of local areas. The Community Crime Prevention Program includes a number of grant programs.

Community Legal Centres Funds Program

Community legal centres across Victoria are encouraged to apply for a share of $7.1 million over two years from the Victorian Government’s Community Legal Centre Assistance Fund, the Family Violence Duty Lawyer Fund and the Community Legal Centre Family Violence Fund.

Victoria’s 50 community legal centres can apply for three grant funds, each worth up to $50,000 per annum.

Community legal centres have the opportunity to apply for a part of:

  • more than $2 million from the Community Legal Centre Assistance Fund, which supports critical programs and free legal services for Victorians who can’t afford a lawyer
  • more than $2.4 million from the Family Violence Duty Lawyer Fund, which helps community legal centres provide specialist family violence duty lawyers in the Magistrates’ Court, and
  • more than $2.6 million from the Community Legal Centre Family Violence Fund, which helps agencies provide support to family violence victims and faster access to legal services.

Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program

The Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP) is an ongoing program funded by the Victorian Government, which provides local emergency services volunteer groups access to grants for operational equipment, vehicles, trucks, tankers, watercraft, trailers and minor facility improvements.

The 2015-16 program offers grants up to a maximum of $100,000 excluding GST. The VESEP will contribute $2 for every $1 of funding contributed by the local volunteer group.

Victorian Legal Services Board Grants Program

The Grants Program distributes funding to projects that aim to improve the administration of laws, increase access to justice, improve legal services and inform and educate the wider community about legal services.

Victorian Legal Services Board 2019 Grants Funding Round is now open. The priority theme is Designing Justice Differently: Using Human-Centred Design and Technology.
