Victoria Police LGBTIQ+ Data Collection and Family Violence
An update was provided on the approaches to the collection of LGBTIQ+ specific crime data and LGBTIQ+ family violence practices by representatives from Victoria Police.
Updates on the Cultural Review into the Adult Custodial System
Representatives from the Department of Justice and Community Safety presented on work underway to implement the recommendations of the Cultural Review of the Adult Custodial System, which are designed to address issues of inequality, safety, and accessibility for LGBTIQ+ people working in the corrections system, as well as those in custody.
Delivery of a specialist LGBTIQ+ Legal Service
Representatives from Q+Law provided an overview of the delivery of specialist LGBTIQ+ legal services being provided out of the Victoria Pride Centre, a commitment under Pride in our future: Victoria’s LGBTIQ+ Strategy 2022-32.
Q+Law commenced operations in July 2023 and has begun providing specialist LGBTIQ+ legal services and advice across Victoria.
