The Youth Employment Scheme (YES) offers Victorians aged 15 to 29 a career kick-start with traineeships in the Victorian Government.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety participates in the scheme along with other Victorian Government departments, and is committed to providing opportunities for young Victorians to increase their skills and experience.

A YES traineeship gives you paid work experience so you can develop your skills and gain qualifications that will lead to ongoing employment.

You are eligible to apply for the scheme if you currently:

  • are aged between 15 and 24 (as at the start of the traineeship)
  • are unemployed or not working more than 15 hours per week
  • are not engaged in tertiary education
  • are available for work
  • do not have a university qualification.
