Under the Statement of Expectations (SOE) Framework for Regulators (the SOE Framework), there is a mandatory requirement for the department to evaluate the Victorian WorkCover Authority (WorkSafe).
The objective is for the SOE Framework to promote greater efficiency and effectiveness in the administration and enforcement of regulation.
The WorkSafe SOE for July 2019-June 2021 set out expectations of how WorkSafe would contribute to the government’s program to reduce red tape and improve regulatory practice, as well as a number of expectations that focused on the delivery of the government’s election commitments.
This report evaluates WorkSafe's performance in meeting these expectations and found it met, or is on-track to meet, most of the expectations identified in its response to the Minister for Workplace Safety’s SOE letter.
