Background
In 2011, the then Minister for Gaming issued a licence to Intralot Gaming Services Pty Ltd (IGS) (External link) to provide an electronic monitoring system. All gaming machines in Victorian venues must be connected to this monitoring system. The monitoring licence began in August 2012 for a 15-year term and is due to expire in August 2027.
The licence requires IGS to conduct monitoring services and carry out any activities, maintenance or other work necessary to ensure a continuous and uninterrupted operation of the gaming machines or systems. As part of the monitoring licence, IGS also delivers the state-wide pre-commitment scheme, YourPlay.
Victorian Monitoring Licence Review
The Victorian Government will review the current monitoring licensing arrangements to support decisions on future licensing arrangements before the licence expires in 2027. This will give government, industry and the community certainty about future monitoring arrangements in Victoria.
The review began in the first half of 2024 and is expected to conclude with a report and recommendations delivered to the Minister for Casino, Gaming and Liquor Regulation in September 2024.
